In ancient time after winning the battle of Mahabharat the Pandvas were living happily and were ruling their kingdom successfully. When Lord Krishna left his mortal body, Pandavas became very sad and lost their interest in this mortal world. Then they too decided to leave the world. Yudhisthira to leave for heaven along with his brothers and wife Draupadi. They deserted the worldly clothes and wore the deer skin and tree barks etc. They appointed the Parikshita as the king and took the leave of their Kul Guru and the people of Hastinapura and started their final journey to heaven. On the way they saw Dwarka “The Kingdom of Krishna “immersed in the see. For them it was the most painful scenario. Then on the way the met with Agni dev (the Lord of Fire). He asked Arjuna that your weapons i.e the Bow ( Gandiva ) and Quiver (full of divine as well as normal arrows), which you obtained from Varuna Dev, have served their purpose. Now its time to return these to him. Arjuna put his weapons off his shoulders and worship the Gandiva and his Quiver and gave them to Agni Deva.
The pandavas reached Himalya and started to climb up the mountain of snow. On the way to the peak of Himalaya Nakul, Sahdeva , Arjuna , Bhim and Draupadi fall dead one by one. Now only Youdhisthira along with a dog was onto journey of heaven. The dog was following them onto journey. When Youdhisthira reached the peak Lord Indra came to him and took him to heaven “The World of Gods”. He had been given the privilege to enter the world of Gods along with his mortal body of human being. Such a great personality was he that even the rules of heaven had to bow down to him.
In the heaven the dog following him turned into Lord Dharma, “The Father Of Youdhisthira”. In the heaven he saw Lord Krishna surrounded by other Lords. He also saw Karna sitting among Adityas, Bhishma amidst Vasus and his other ancestors and friends and counter parts of war who died during the battle.
What startled him most in the heaven was the presence of Duryodhana. His mind was asking him the biggest question and he was looking the one who can satisfy him. Seeing him uneasy, Narada came to him and explained him that Duryodhana was never a coward and died the death of a brave that too in a holy place. He was also a good friend and was a good king. Because of all these reasons he got the entry in heaven.
Youdhisthira had told only one lie in his truthful life and for that he was made to come to heaven via a way coming from the side of the hell. All his brothers and wife had to spend few hours in hell for their sins before making to heaven. This inspires all to explain in itself that everyone in this world have to pay for their sins no matter who one is!
